ROBERT OLIVA

Robert started his career in 1981 at Torsteel Company Limited. He began as a shop apprentice while building an academic and practical background in drafting and welding at Humber College. Robert evolved into the shop foreman and received his Welding Supervisor’s Certificate through the Canadian Welding Bureau for Steel, Stainless steel and Aluminum fabrication. Robert progressed through a number of management roles including Project Manager, Estimator, Purchaser, and Site Supervisor.

Robert was appointed to the role of Vice President of Torsteel in 1985. As VP, Robert established a lasting network with Canada's largest General Contractors and suppliers in the construction and metal fabrication sectors. Robert assumed the role of President and majority owner at Torsteel where he continued to lead the company in its growth as one of the largest Miscellaneous Metal fabricators in Southern Ontario. Under his direction, Torsteel experienced increases in annual sales from $1.5M to $17M. Throughout a variety of leadership roles at Torsteel, Robert directed more than 700 projects ranging in scale from front entrance house railings to commercial high-rise towers in metropolitan Toronto.

Robert founded Venture Metal Works Incorporated in 2011 and remains acting President where he works closely alongside his team and customers.
